4th Annual Ramble for Recovery and Recovery Fair

4th Annual Ramble for RecoveryMany people do not understand that addiction is a treatable disease. This misconception and the stigma associated with addiction can sometimes hinder people from getting effective substance abuse treatment. In 2007, as many as 20.8 million people nationwide needed but did not receive treatment. In celebration of people in long-term recovery and their families, UMPQUA PARTNERS – For a drug-free future joins the nation in an annual observance that takes place during the month of September. National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month (Recovery Month) provides a platform to celebrate people in recovery and those that serve them.

On Saturday, September 24, 2011, Umpqua Partners will host the 4th annual Ramble for Recovery – a 5K Run/5K Walk to celebrate the hope of recovery from addiction through healthy competition. Individuals in recovery, those with family and friends in recovery, or anyone wishing to support the recovering community are welcome to participate.

Positive Community Norms

PCN

Many prevention campaigns attempt to "scare health" into people. Mark your calendars and plan to attend this presentation to learn how positve social norms marketing works to dispel some widely held misperceptions about many health-related issues - from alcohol, tobacco and other drug use to seat belt use. Join us for a day with Jeff Linkenbach, Ed.D., Director of the Center for Health and Safety Culture and a Senior Research Scientist at Montana State University. This is a great opportunity to learn how we can "turn down the volume" on counterporoductive messages.
